Cloxacillin is a penicillinase- resistant penicillin. It is active ageinst Gram-positive organisms including penicillinase-producing strains of staphulococci. Cloxacillin is highly active against staph, aureus, strep pneumoniae. It is also active against penicillinase- producing gonococci and influenzee. Other Gram- negative organisms are resistant to cloxacillin as are also methicillin-resistant of staphylococci.
Respiratiory urinary, skin, soft tissue, bone 7& joint infections, ENT, meningitis, Genito-urinary infections, Surgical & Gynaecological peri-operative prophylaxis.
Adults : 250mg (ampicillin) + 250mg (cloxacillin) 4-6 hrly.
